Hey everyone 👋,
This week was jam-packed with different tasks, as with most of my weeks. It's a routine scene at my desk, with each week bringing its own set of challenges.
Getting into the details, I spent a lot of time on Mockup, working on two new features: Prototyping and Mask in Frames. I started the week focusing on Prototyping, and by Friday, shifted to Mask in Frames.
In between, I was busy with another project, which I'm excited to talk about soon. Basically, my role primarily revolved around validating the designer's suggestions through coding and testing.
Aside from coding, I had a lot of brainstorming sessions and detailed discussions with our designer about the look and feel of our next project.
Not to mention overseeing our social media presence content strategy, monitoring analytics, looking into bug reports or support requests, and more.
On top of that, I'm always trying to squeeze in creating content for my personal brand.
So, how do I manage all these?
I used to utilize time-blocking, but that didn't really work for me. It felt like a job to work on predefined tasks at specific times. I've written about that on my blog: Why I Ditched Time Blocking for To-do Lists.
Instead, I've embraced a more flexible approach with to-do lists and weekly goals.
Every Sunday, I outline my objectives for the week, while staying ready to adjust them if needed.
This week, for instance, our designer suggested a new functionality. I had to change my plans and do some coding to validate whether the feature was achievable or not. Doing that was necessary to unblock her workflow. And, by staying adaptable, I was able to incorporate this task seamlessly into my schedule.
Now, back to these weekly goals, how do I approach them?
Every day, I pick whatever I feel like working on. Feeling sharp and focused? I'll tackle the complex coding challenges head-on.
In a more reflective mood? I'll refine and polish unfinished features. And if I wrap up a task early or hit a roadblock, I might work on social media posts or help my team with another project.
This way of working keeps me moving forward on different tasks each day. By remaining flexible, I make steady progress daily across all fronts, free from the pressure of a rigid schedule. It feels less like a job and more like a journey.
So tell me, how do you manage your workload? Are you skilled at multitasking or do you prefer to focus on one project at a time? I'd love to hear all about it!
That's all for now. Thanks for sticking with me through this rundown.
