Hey friends 👋
Reflecting on past week's work, I've noticed two significant things: ChatGPT has profoundly changed my workflow, and a small perspective shift unlocked new content for me.
Let's dive in!
How ChatGPT Changed My Workflow
As usual, I'm coding new features for Mockup. One of these features is "Prototyping".
To put it simply, users can connect objects to target frames, and then preview their designs in an interactive way.
For such a feature, usually UI/UX tools display arrows from the objects to the destination frames, so these connections are visible and clear.
Here's a screenshot of how this looks like in Mockup now:
And here's the thing: plotting these arrows requires some math and trigonometric functions.
If I were to code this a year ago, I would google how to draw curves and arrowheads, try to understand the math behind it and get a headache while trying to remember these math concepts...
However, things are different now. The first thing I did was ask ChatGPT to write a code to draw these arrows.
I tested the code and gave my observations to ChatGPT to iterate on that.
Of course, at the end, I did some polishing and improvements for the arrows to look good in all the different cases.
But ChatGPT did most of the work, and I didn't have to deal with the trigonometry part!
My workflow is really different now. I'm able to concentrate more on the final result, without getting bogged down by the complexities of the implementation details.
A New Perspective on Direct Messages
Recently, I got a DM from a "coach" who helps entrepreneurs "boost their focus"...
I usually just delete such DMs. But this time, I caught myself thinking: do people really enroll in such programs?
Instead of deleting it, I posted it to my stories, added my top 4 pillars for focus, and a comment on the whole thing.
Instead of dismissing these messages, I realized I could use them as content to share my thoughts on such topics and why I don't agree with whatever I wanted to initially delete.
A small shift in perspective can open new opportunities and drive our work forward!
That's it for this week, thanks for reading!
