Hey friends 👋
This week has been more about relaxation and light work for me. It allowed me some breathing room. Nonetheless, I released a quick update and finalized another. I'd like to also talk about a habit that helped me a lot to progress at my work. So, let's dive in.
A Quick Patch Update
Usually, when I approach a launch date, I feel a rush to finalize everything.
However, after the release of Mockup 3.5, I found myself in a different rhythm. I was able to take a step back and look for minor bugs and improvements. So I addressed these and released Mockup 3.5.1.
Fall's Update and iOS 17
We're just a week away from Apple's event and the anticipated release of iOS 17. And we're getting ready to launch our new Mockup update alongside.
Most of the significant work for this update had been already completed, so this week was all about putting the finishing touches to it. Specifically, I implemented the empty-state for the new preview widgets. Incredible design, indeed!
The team is currently hard at work on the marketing material, which I'm actively reviewing and guiding.
The Habit of Leveling Up
When someone asks what I do, it's always been challenging to explain. It gets even more complex when they inquire about how to follow a similar path. My journey has encompassed diverse skills, from development to design, marketing, and management. I find it strange to recommend learning all these skills.
Initially, I had no clue I would need and acquire such a wide array of knowledge. Even now, I wonder what skills I might discover and need in the future. Every new skill I pick up makes me reflect on how different things could have been had I known it earlier!
A few days ago, I watched Ali Abdaal's video where he discussed the concept of what he called the "Avatar Habit."
Basically, in the show "Avatar: The Last Airbender", there's a guy named Aang who ventured into various places to acquire diverse skills over time, leveling up his character. And it struck me how this analogy is so relatable to me.
So, I've always had this habit of consistently honing certain skills, from finding app ideas to coding, design, marketing, branding, etc. And I always find myself looking for the next skill that I need to improve. Even when I outsource or hire, I make sure I have some skill in the role so I can grasp and evaluate the work done.
What I do isn't about coding an app; it's about building a business where the app is the product. It's an intersection of diverse skills. The key to progress is to level up these skills continuously.
This concept has resonated deeply with me, so I liked to share it with you too.
That's all for this week, and as always, thank you for reading.
