Hey friends 👋
It's me, Hasan. You've probably noticed something different — "Weekly Bits" is now "Brew & Build". I'll talk about that later, but first, let me share a little about what's been happening behind the scenes.
Building a New App
Well, it's a simple utility app that I built quickly and shipped in exactly one week. In case you’re wondering, it’s a QR code app for scanning, saving, and generating codes. With plenty of similar apps available, I understand that some might question the necessity, but I see this as an indication of high demand. I won’t link it here, but it's not hard to find.
The app is far from polished, and it's not something I'm particularly proud of.
Why did I make it? That’s easy to answer: to test the market. Depending on how well the app performs, I can decide whether to consider it and polish it or remove it from the store.
Now here's the twist.
When developing the app, I copied the upgrade page from another app of mine that's already published on the App Store.
However, it got rejected because the subscription button didn't follow Apple's guidelines. It was weird considering they had already approved the app I copied it from.
I accepted their decision and copied the subscription button design from their documentation to avoid any problems. Did that work? No!
I had to make further changes to make it through the review process. But the thing is, I couldn't get the review team to approve the design they provided as an example in their documentation!
I've seen some odd reasons for app rejections, but this one was the wildest!
Why "Brew & Build"?
You've been receiving my newsletter, "Weekly Bits," where I share my journey, tips, and the lessons learned along the way.
But here's the thing, "Weekly Bits" started to feel... well, a bit limiting, especially after launching a broadcast channel on Instagram. I needed a name that could be used for more than just this newsletter that resonates more, one that you can spot and recognize across any platform.
So, after some thinking, brainstorming with ChatGPT, and quite a few cups of coffee, it hit me. I'm not just building apps; I'm building a business, a team, a social media presence, and, yes, this very newsletter. Every day is about building something new.
And if you know me, you know that building doesn't happen without coffee!
That's why I'm thrilled to introduce "Brew & Build" to you. This name encapsulates what I do and love — building incredible things, powered by passion (and plenty of caffeine). It's about growth, progress, and embracing the journey with all its ups and downs.
I'm excited to continue sharing my experiences under this new name.
Thank you for being a part of this journey. Here's to fresh beginnings, exciting projects, and countless cups of the good stuff!
