Busy Weeks: Pushing Updates and Solving Problems
From Keyword Strategies to Performance Optimization
Hey everyone, š
I am starting this one breaking the silence of last week. I've been super busy coding away, fine-tuning app store optimization (ASO), resolving issues, and working on updates.
So, let's get into it!
ASO & App Update
I recently attended the āGet Started with App Discovery and Marketingā session by Apple and realized that I wasn't utilizing keywords correctly in my previous apps. My approach was pretty basic with only a few related words repeated in titles and subtitles and no attempt to maximize the character limit. So, I decided to take some time to fix that for Qibla Compass & Prayer Times.
On top of that, I did a quick update for the Prayer Times app to fix some bugs and add some features that the users asked for. In addition, I introduced onboarding and subscriptions. And that took 2 days of work!
I'd wanted to do these updates for about a year but kept getting preoccupied with Mockup or new projects. And I finally decided to get them done.
Tackling New Challenges
I was working on this new app and implementing the new design, steadily making progress. I noticed a performance problem; it was running slow and not as smooth as I would have liked. Using Xcode Inspector, I determined why it was lagging and began fixing it. Some issues were simple, while some were a bit complicated. I started wondering if the frameworks and components used were causing the problem.
I experimented with different ways to build it to see what worked best. It felt like I was doing the same work over and over, which was annoying, but it helped me figure out the best way to make the app work great.
This process wasn't just for coding. My team and I did something similar with the app design. We had a plan, but after trying it out, we saw we could make it even better. Even though we thought we had the best ideas, using the app showed us where we could make improvements. It meant going back and redoing some work, which felt like a hassle, but it was worth it to make sure our app was the best it could be.
These last two weeks have been all about improving things and ensuring that they work well.
Thank you for reading! Until the next time.
